food allergies

The adventure has started.  Has anyone else had the joy of experimenting with foods to find out what your child is allergic to?  Due to him getting sick a few weeks ago and being unable to keep any foods in his body which resulted in his eczema completely clearing up, we know that food allergies are the culprit.  We’ll have confirmation from the blood draw in a couple weeks but I’m almost positive he’s allergic to nuts.  Also, we’ve been off dairy for a couple days now and his face has cleared up rapidly and the rest of his body is coming along slowly but surely.  I would love it if anyone has any great dairy and nut free recipes they would like to share and I will do the same if/when I find any.

Jennifer Redenius - Hey April–sorry to hear about the allergies. You could try to google the recipes or perhaps check your library and see if they have any cookbooks available for you. I’ll be praying for wisdom. April 11, 2009 – 12:50 am

Brooke - Poor Finney boy! Does that mean no cheese?! Eek!

allrecipes.com is great! You can specify what you do not want and they will eliminate all recipes with those ingredients.April 11, 2009 – 6:56 am

Heather - My little guy had a suspected dairy allergy (I’m nursing him) & I had to eat completely dairy free for months! Most specialty grocery stores like Wegmans & Wholefoods have LOTS of dairy free recipes. I ate lots of organic cereal w/ rice milk but only b/c I didn’t have time to cook a separate meal for myself :( I will look for the recipes the next time I’m there! PS…. my little guy’s eczema cleared completely once I started the diet. However I kept reintroducing it to see if it passed & thank goodness I can eat dairy again…. he no longer reacts! Hopefully his will be transient also!April 14, 2009 – 7:52 am
