Many of you know that we did some additional blood tests because Finley’s eczema was still bad. First of all, he did wonderfully with the blood draw and didn’t cry at all. Secondly, we got the results back on Monday and they told us he tested positive to being allergic to tomatoes, bananas and avocados. Between the two tests we’ve done that brings his food allergies to a total of 6: peanuts, dairy, egg, tomatoes, bananas and avocados. As hard as it is to prepare a meal the improvement on his skin is astounding and completely worth it. His personality and speech keeps getting better and better too. I wanted to thank all of you who have been praying for us. Praying for answers, Finley’s improvement, stress levels, the ability to find meals, etc. With every ounce of me I thank you!

I guess he’s working on his big brother skills. I’m anxious to see how he’ll interact with the new baby. He’s always been very attached to me and gets jealous easily if Layla’s getting some attention rather than him. However, he’s been playing with the babies lately and every night he lays his blankie on my belly and says it’s for the baby. We’ll see how things go once his baby sister gets here.

I think this was the first time I’ve baked since finding out about Finley’s food allergies back in April. The clouds, rain and thunder just called for some nice, hot cookies. I found this yummy looking recipe and thought I’d give it a try. The kids were way too excited to actually have some bakes sweets in the house for a change. I think Justin was a little happy too
- 4 tsp ground flax seeds
- 1/2 cup milk (I used coconut)
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cups cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cups oil (I used vegetable)
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup chocolate chips (I used dairy free chocolate chips and way more than 1 cup)
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix flax seeds and milk and let set for 10 minutes.
- Combine all dry ingredients.
- Add in all wet ingredients.
- Bake 1″ dough balls on ungreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes.

October is going to be an exciting month for us. There’s lots of weddings, Layla’s first field trip, I enter my third trimester, and Justin moves to the night shift. We’re also taking Finley in for another food allergy evaluation since his skin has gotten worse since it got better. Hope you all have a wonderful cool and breezy October!
