I had an absolutely amazing time this past weekend flying over to Myrtle Beach to help Andrea photograph Brooke of Brooke Christl Photography‘s wedding. It was seriously one of the most gorgeous weddings that I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting and Brook and all her family and friends were so amazing. No wedding pictures to show yet but here are a few instagram shots from the weekend…

Yesterday I talked about a big moment in my photography journey, joining Clickin’ Moms. Today I want to talk about the other big moment, second shooting. Three years ago today I second shot my first wedding with Andrea of Andrea Murphy Photography. Working with Andrea has been an awesome opportunity. She’s a great boss and I love that she teaches me without even knowing it. Before photographing weddings, I knew how much I loved photography. What I didn’t know was how much I loved photographing other people. When a person chooses you to come into that special time in their lives, whether it’s a wedding or a birth or to capture those fleeting moments with a newborn, it’s truly amazing. It’s a privilege and it’s one that I take seriously. Andrea, thank you for giving me one of the best jobs of my life!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t there to photograph their wedding. I was suppose to be. The day before their wedding I had to make the one phone call that a wedding photographer dreads to make, the one where I tell the bride that I can not be there. This isn’t a usual call for me. Now, I’ve put my own sickness aside before to photograph a wedding but this time it wasn’t me. My 4 month old ended up in the hospital four hours away (she’s okay now). I couldn’t leave her and Alex was so incredibly sweet and completely understood. Thankfully, Rachel with Goody Two Shoes Photography stepped in for me to capture their day. I can not thank her enough! Another unfortunate was that it rained on their wedding day. It was an outdoor wedding. I think by the end of the day all that mattered was that they were now man and wife. Congratulations Alex and Chris and I can’t wait to make it up there to spend some time photographing the two of you.

Here’s a little teaser for you two from your beautiful wedding. I just grabbed two photos to share with you real quick. There are so many fabulous pictures from your wonderful day and I can not wait to share them all with you. Congratulations once again!

Now I have to give credit to the right person on this next one. Keith is a volunteer firefighter so my husband had the idea of photographing them in the rubble of a building that burned down several months back. This was a big fire for our guys so this is more than just an “ugly building” in the background. Thank honey for sharing your ideas with me!
