Some of the surrounding fire departments joined together today for some fire training.  Part of their training involved an actual live fire and guess who got to photograph it?!  These are just two that I edited quickly but there will be lots more to come.

There’s probably going to be lots of posts coming up!  I’m in the middle of organizing and editing the past 3 years of photographs  so there are lots of fun memories to share.  Some of them aren’t very old either.  Marcie has mentioned Landon and Finley’s love/hate relationship.  It hasn’t always been that way.  Here’s a few photos I found from January where Finley and Landon had a silent yet apparently hilarious conversation (sorry but Landon’s back was to me when I took these).

It’s happened.  I’ve finally reached a point where I need to have some business cards made.  This is where your help comes in.  You see, I’m having trouble deciding what picture to place on the card so I need you to help me pick one.  Feel free to browse all my photos by clicking here.  Once you’ve chosen a photo that would make you want to hire me if you were in the market for a photographer, come back here and leave a comment.  Please include the date of the photo along with the title if there is one and a brief description.  I will then randomly choose a commenter to win a set of 5 notecards.  Winner will be announced Thursday morning!

Here’s an oldie I found when searching for something in my archives:

Jennifer - Your starting a photo biz? All your photos are awesome so I’m really no help in picking just one. Why not have a few printed with different photos?ReplyCancel

admin - Jennifer, it’s just a very small business. I really love working with/for Andrea and still want that to be 90% of my work right now. Ideally, I’d like to have a couple shoots of my own a month.ReplyCancel

Jennifer - Cool!! I’m sure you won’t have a problem getting a couple shoots a month! One of my fav’s is the one of the family in the field (you have it on your slideshow), but really all of them are fav.s lol :) Good luck picking one!ReplyCancel

Brooke - I really like the one of Brian and Rachelle that you have on Flickr (under Brian and Rachelle).

Or if you want to go for “kiddish” photos, I love the one of Finn 2-19-09 and maybe this one of Layla ( ) to go with it. I was looking for the one of Layla in the tub when she was younger. I just remember it being a really great photo…ReplyCancel

andrea murphy - What type of shoots are you hoping to book is the question? Children, family, couples? If you give a prego mom a card with an engaged couple, she’s likely not going to call you. If you want a little of everything I would either a) skip the picture all together and let your logo do the work or b) use one your nature shots. they’re gorgeous.ReplyCancel

Brooke - If I needed to pick between several photographers I would rather see photos of people instead of inanimate objects.

You could do a collage. Do a couple photo, a prego photo (like that shot of Grace on the circle rug), and a child/baby photo. That’s the order people typically do things (couple, prego, child). Not always, but typically.ReplyCancel

admin - Ideally, I would like to photograph seniors. I guess in my dream world I would help Andrea shoot weddings, shoot seniors on my own with a few births here and there once my kids are in school. The only thing is that I don’t have any senior style shoots that I’ve done. Maybe I should call Jamie and see if she’ll be a guinea pig for me? :) ReplyCancel

  • April 28, 2009 - 5:09 pm

andrea murphy - Yes… get some shots first. Births and seniors are 2 very different things. If you’re not going to go with a stand alone logo (has to be an awesome log) I would do 2 different cards. Cards are cheap. Just make sure its branded similarly enough.ReplyCancel

jennifer - i love seniors, they are so much fun!!ReplyCancel

  • April 29, 2009 - 8:27 am

April Nienhuis - That’s a great idea Andrea. I hadn’t thought of doing two cards but it makes total sense. I don’t really see myself pursuing the birth photography until the kids are in school though. I still need to get some of your cards to keep on hand…ReplyCancel
